Martin Weber was born in Stuttgart 1952. He received diplomas in
Mathematics and Business from the University of Aachen. At the same
university, he was awarded his Ph.D. in 1981 and completed his
habilitation in 1988. His dissertation was on decision analysis and
his habilitation thesis dealt with behavioral finance. After holding a
professorship for half a year at Cologne University, he moved to Kiel
(Professor of General Business, 1989-1993). Since 1993, he has been a
professor at the University of Mannheim (Professor of Banking and
Finance). He spent three years as a visitor at the Business School at
UCLA, at Wharton, at the Psychology Department of Stanford University
and at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He serves on
the editorial boards of "Decision Analysis", the "Journal of Risk and
Uncertainty", and "Theory and Decision". His research interest is in
banking, behavioral finance, decision research and experimental economics.
