Born in 1956 in Ludwigshafen/Rhein. Diploma in Mathematics (1978), doctoral dissertation (1981) and habilitation (1986) in Business Administration, all degrees from the University of Mannheim. Professor of Operations Research at the University of Heidelberg (1987 - 1989). Since 1989 Professor for General Business Administration, Risk Theory, Portfolio Management and Insurance at the University of Mannheim. Member of the Board of Management of the German Society of Insurance Mathematics (since 1991). Member of the Supervisory Boards of Insurance Companies. His current research interests include: asset/liability management, insurance and investment for old age provision, risk adjusted performance management in insurance.
